My pediatrician had told my husband and I that it was best for our daughter to sleep with us, bedside, until she was a year old… Im in a few mom support groups and it was few and far between that folks were waiting a full year. So we made the decision to transition our daughter to her own room. My husband and I needed time together and we figured we would all sleep better being separated.
Learning to nurse her at night in a rocking chair with only her boppy definitely took some adjusting. It was tough! Especially when her latch was already tough from her new teeth *shudder*.
We took this time to begin gentle sleep training and she is doing so well. Once we established a routine, she started falling asleep faster and at the same time every night and sleeping for longer chunks at a time.
It doesnt usually get crazy hot (temperature wise) in VT and stay that way for any length of time but this summer, we have had record breaking heat. Like her mama and daddy, she does NOT like the heat. Once we installed an AC she slept 6 straight hours… Mama woke feeling refreshed! What a dream that was!
Transitioning to the crib while incorperating gentle sleep training had, all-in-all been a win and its given me back some private time with my husband 🌼
Our evening routine:
6:00PM – Dinner
6:30PM – Bath
7:00PM – Story Time
7:15PM – Nurse (night feed)
7:30PM – Down in crib
Then her wakes have been about 10:30PM to eat and 3:30AM. I just got Pampers Dry Baby diapers so hopefully I won’t have to change her diaper overnight! She was having trouble going back to sleep once she is awake at 3:30AM. *Last night was a bit better**
Will keep you all posted how we progress and what we learn throughout this process 👌
